About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to own the reliability of our platform and how we deliver software. Our entire platform runs on AWS, spread across multiple regions and dozens of accounts, so strong AWS experience at this scale is the core of the role. You’ll set company-wide standards for CI/CD and GitOps, and run Kubernetes on AWS in production. You’ll also keep the platform available, observable and resilient under real payment traffic. You’ll work closely with the Security and engineering teams, and you’ll help bring AI-driven tooling into how we build and operate systems.
What You'll Be Doing
- Platform reliability. Keep the platform available, resilient and fast. Take part in incident management and the on-call rotation, and run blameless post-incident reviews.
- Infrastructure. Design, build and run our multi-region, multi-account AWS landscape and the EKS clusters on it. Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, and manage AWS resources from Kubernetes with AWS Controllers for Kubernetes (ACK).
- CI/CD and GitOps strategy. Define company-wide CI/CD standards and design reusable pipeline templates. Maintain pipelines across 20+ repositories, and roll out GitOps and progressive delivery (canary, blue/green) with Argo CD.
- Governance and guardrails. Build security and compliance guardrails into the platform and delivery pipelines, together with the Security team.
- Observability. Improve monitoring, logging and alerting with VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, Loki, Zabbix, Splunk and PagerDuty. Define SLOs, SLIs and error budgets for critical services.
- Toil reduction. Build internal tooling and self-service so engineers do less manual work.
- AI in operations. Find and adopt AI-driven tools for delivery and operations, such as failure prediction and automated root cause analysis.
- Documentation. Write and maintain configuration standards, runbooks and architecture designs.
Qualifications You Bring
- Extensive, hands-on production experience with AWS. This is our most important requirement. You have designed and run real workloads on EKS, VPC networking, IAM, EC2, RDS, S3 and related services. Experience with GCP or Azure is welcome too, but strong AWS skills are what we need most for this role.
- Proven experience designing and operating multi-region and multi-account AWS environments. This is mandatory, not a nice-to-have. It includes AWS Organizations, cross-account IAM roles, Transit Gateway or VPC peering, cross-region replication and disaster recovery.
- 5+ years running production Linux systems, with at least 3 of those years on Kubernetes in production (Docker, Helm)
- 4+ years designing and running CI/CD at scale with GitLab, Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Strong hands-on experience with GitOps and infrastructure-as-code: Argo CD, Terraform
- Experience managing AWS resources through Kubernetes with AWS Controllers for Kubernetes (ACK)
- Experience with observability at scale: custom metrics, instrumentation, log aggregation (Loki or similar) and alerting
- Scripting or programming skills in Python, Go or Bash
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Nginx and Apache
- Understanding of distributed systems, and experience working in Agile (Scrum) teams
- Strong written and spoken English
- A real interest in AI tools and how they can improve engineering work
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with high-availability, high-volume web services (payments or fintech is a strong plus)
- Experience running infrastructure in regulated environments under PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO/IEC 27001, including taking part in audits and putting the required controls in place
- A track record of practising SRE with SLOs, SLIs and error budgets
- eBPF-based observability (Cilium, Hubble, Pixie or similar)
- Certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional or CKA/CKAD
- A self-directed work style and a habit of automating away recurring work
We offer:
- Attractive monthly salary paid in line with experience
- Vacation, sick, and paid holidays
- Flexible working hours
- Full-time: 5/2
- Modern workplace with all necessary equipment
- A team of top international professionals to learn from
- Multicultural working environment
