Verizon Global Infrastructure (VGI) seeks a highly motivated Cybersecurity Engineer to continuously evolve security standards. This critical role involves hardening Verizon’s Network, Cloud, and Application environments within the GTS ecosystem by converting complex security challenges into robust, enterprise-grade solutions. You will be instrumental in redefining attack surface management by designing a next-generation naming and delivery ecosystem. By integrating DNSSEC, encrypted traffic steering, and GSLB, you will bridge the gap between on-premise and public cloud platforms to ensure seamless, "always-on" security and automated threat mitigation across our global infrastructure.
What we’re looking for…
- Supporting daily operations, including internal/external stakeholder engagement and dotted-line leadership.
- Executing on the transition to hybrid-cloud environments by implementing fault-tolerant failover strategies that meet rigorous business availability and performance objectives.
- Identifying and solving for technology gaps in the design, architecture, and implementation of appropriate security solutions.
- Driving continuous improvement of network visibility and telemetry collection to strengthen detection and response capabilities
- Creating and maintaining technical standards, policies, and procedures to ensure smooth and error-free operations.
- Building and refining playbooks and response runbooks, ensuring repeatable workflows for high-impact scenarios (ransomware, phishing, insider threat, DDoS, etc.)
- Participating in Purple Team, Threat Hunt, and cyber security tabletop exercises.
- Supporting regular security control assessments validating configuration effectiveness and closing gaps discovered during incidents or hunts
- Promoting an environment of collaboration and individual accountability when it comes to problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvements
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
- Four of more years of direct, hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and securing Citrix Load Balancers (NetScaler) and server load balancing (SLB) policies
- Proven track record engineering and maintaining Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) architectures for multi-region active-active/active-passive failover and traffic distribution.
- Production-level experience managing enterprise DNS infrastructures (Infoblox, IPControl, or BIND) with a solid foundation in DNSSEC, zone delegations, and recursive resolver hardening.
- Strong command-line and systems administration experience within enterprise Linux environments, including networking daemons, service debugging, and TCP/IP stack tuning.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash to automate operational workflows, API-driven network tasks, and infrastructure configurations.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Expert in leading end-to-end digital transformations and hybrid-cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure, GCP), specializing in high-availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and resilient application delivery.
- Deep expertise in building CI/CD pipelines for network infrastructure using Python, Go, and Ansible to automate lifecycle management and configuration auditing.
- Experienced in deploying ML-powered AIOps platforms for predictive monitoring, automated anomaly detection, and self-healing recovery workflows.
- Advanced knowledge of securing management traffic and data-in-transit via Next-Gen Firewalls (NGFW), Proxies, VPNs, and robust encryption standards (IPsec, TLS).
- Senior-level proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments and a mastery of core industry standards including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, and IAM frameworks.
- Strong alignment with NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS benchmarks to ensure security integrity across cloud-native and hybrid environments.
- Industry Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, CCIE Security, CCE-N, or equivalent expert-level cloud networking credentials.
